The Yumi success story

Yumi is an experienced women’s fashion brand as the company was founded in the UK more than 20 years ago.

Today, it includes several spin-off brands, has five brick and mortar stores, and is sold in many large department stores.

But about two years ago, Yumi needed to re-evaluate its ecommerce approach.

Continued development on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud site was no longer a viable option for Yumi.

So they started searching for a new platform that was lightweight but still full of features and a bit more affordable.

After extensive evaluation of several platforms, they landed on BigCommerce.

Greater agility and speed to market

In our business, speed is important.

  • We need to be able to quickly launch new products and make changes to the site to reflect current promotions.

  • We need quick load times.

  • We need to be able to get all of our in-house team members educated quickly with an intuitive ecommerce platform.

All of these factors have a major impact on our speed to market, and ultimately, our bottom line.

With BigCommerce, we’ve been able to become more efficient without sacrificing quality.

Our page load speeds are up, and tools like bulk product uploads make daily tasks much faster. Plus, the UI and UX of BigCommerce are very logical and user-friendly, and our team enjoys using it.

Everything is simple, and there’s no getting lost in an overly complex system.

Easy platform migration and customization with agency help from 5874

Thanks to the agency we worked with for migration, 5874, our move from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to BigCommerce was fast -- and we were able to customize the new site to meet our needs.

Even with our custom-coded design requirements, we were able to complete the entire transition within 3 months.

5874 also used the BigCommerce API to help us build out some custom integrations and processes.

One we love is the app they made that helps us release timed updates to the site around promotions. With this tool, our site theme is automatically updated with this new data at, say, midnight when a deal goes live. This way, we don’t have to be on the other side waiting to launch that in the middle of the night.

Overall, since making the switch to BigCommerce and focusing on some overarching strategy improvements, we’ve seen an increase in our traffic, sales, and conversion rate.

Our speed is much better, which definitely affects those data points. We’re continuing to tweak processes and make changes, but we’re very happy with the direction things are headed.
