Each January, tens of thousands of brands, retailers, and solutions providers gather at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to discover the latest technologies, discuss new trends, and gather insights from retail experts around the world.

Known as “Retail’s Big Show,” the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) flagship conference comes fresh off the heels of a record-breaking holiday season, offering an excitement-packed agenda of thought leadership sessions and networking opportunities to kick off 2024.

Make it here and make it matter

This year’s theme was “Make it here and make it matter,” and that’s exactly what BigCommerce intended to do.

Along with our subsidiary, Feedonomics, the BigCommerce team joined in on the action with an exhibitor booth complete with lively activations, and took the stage for a Big Ideas session, “Innovate, Iterate, Grow: Redefining the Omnichannel Customer Journey.”

You can catch a recording of our session on YouTube, featuring Feedonomics SVP of Sales and Partnerships, Sharon Gee, and CEO of Houzer, Michael Challinger.

Beyond the walls of Javits Center, the BigCommerce team hit the streets in our BigCommerce Cab, chatting with experts to gather ecommerce insights on the go.

NRF may be behind us, but 2024 is just beginning — and NRF attendees had lots to say about what lies ahead.

From mega brands and retailers such as Saks, Levi Strauss & Co., and Target, to powerhouse technology companies like PayPal, Stripe, and Google, to our own seasoned BigCommerce and Feedonomics executives, the event speakers shared their expert insights and predictions with an eager audience of retailers and commerce professionals.

A few recurring themes stood out across the three days of sessions and conversations as the predominant trends shaping the retail industry:

  • The power of generative AI

  • Elevating the customer experience

  • Omnichannel commerce connectivity

Our BigCommerce and Feedonomics executive team shared their perspectives on the state of ecommerce and what we can expect to see in 2024.
